Environment & Activities El Rincón de la Fuente Vieja

Location:

It is located in Maranchón, in the north of Guadalajara and near Soria, and not too far away from the major urban areas (Madrid, Guadalajara, Zaragoza, Valencia), which makes it even more charming.

Maranchón already existed at the time of the conquest. In the fifteenth century it was ruled by La Cerda, Grand Dukes of Medinaceli. During the eighteenth century, its commercial activity started to increase, and so did its number of inhabitants. It was essentially a farming village and its inhabitants started to travel to different places in Spain to sell their products, collecting large sums of money that were invested in building large houses and manors in the village.

The river Tajuña is born in Fuente del Carro, near Clares. It is surrounded by moorland, deep in valleys of clay, marl and dolomitic limestone.

To the west of the town of Maranchón, Ermita de Nuestra Señora de los Olmos, Maranchón saint patron. Legend has it that in the year 1114 during the Reconquest, the Virgin Mary appeared above a juniper. The old sanctuary was rebuilt in the eighteenth century adding a new tower topped with a capital of Oriental reminiscences.

The house is located in Los Drogueros, one of the most important places in town, just behind Tia Gonzala Bridge.
